Our February guests don’t usually need rain gear, but for part of this week rain gear would have been more useful than a heavy winter parka. After several weeks of almost perfect trail conditions, unseasonably warm temperatures and several days of rain this week took a toll on the ski trails. Luckily, our deep snow base did hold up through the warm temperatures.
The good news is that the temperatures are finally dropping enough that the groomers should be able to go out to renovate the trails. Plus, all afternoon it’s been seriously snowing again. This is more like winter on the Gunflint Trail.
The long weekend ahead should be a good one. Chez Jude will be serving a special “All you need is love” Valentine’s Day dinner on Saturday and Sunday. Our musher, Erik Simula, still has dog sled trip spots available. And our excellent massage therapist will be available on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend, so you can ease those tired and sore muscles. See our website at www.bearskin.com for more info.
For Valentine’s Day we’ll be having Gourmet S’Mores for Bearskin guests all afternoon on Saturday. Erik will be giving a mushing talk Saturday night at 8 PM by the Main Lodge fireplace. Wine & cheese by the fireplace will be hosted by Bob on Sunday at 5:00 PM.
