It’s Earth Day – a perfect day to register for Gunflint Green Up. Gunflint Green Up is May 6 & 7 this year, and we’ll be planting 10,000 pine tree seedlings in the 2007 Ham Lake Fire area.
We hope you’ll join us again for a fun weekend in the woods. (If you’ve already registered – thank you!)
Friday, May 6
2:00 Walk the Nature Trail at End of the Trail Campground with naturalist, Steve Robertsen
5:30-7:30 Welcome picnic at the “big top” at Gunflint Lodge with music by Gerald Thilmany
7:30 Presentation “Paulson Mine and the Port Arthur Duluth and Western
Railroad: Collapse of the Gunflint Iron Range” by historian Lee Johnson. The Ham Lake Fire uncovered the 1892 railway bed, generating renewed interest in the history of the mine and railroad.
Saturday, May 7
9:00 Planting pine tree seedlings at assigned locations along the Gunflint Trail
5:30-7:30 Thank you dinner at the “big top” at Gunflint Lodge with music by Bump & Barbara Jean
7:30 Dance to Trail’s End Band

The registration fee for all meals and programs is $35 per individual or $80 per family (1- 2 adults and their children 16 years of age and younger) and includes Friday’s dinner, evening presentation, Saturday tree planting, box lunch, dinner, dance, and t-shirt.
